With Thanksgiving drawing near I am reminded how very blessed I am. I enjoy family, friends, and the many warm relationships I have formed through my business. I hope you’ll take a moment and reflect on the blessings in your own life.
One of my favorite things about Thanksgiving is FOOD. In fact, I can just smell pumpkin pie baking any time of year and it brings back memories of family and friends at the Thanksgiving table together. Well, speaking of good smells, I wanted to share a favorite recipe with you. Put this dish out on the Thanksgiving table and watch it disappear!
Hoping you have a truly blessed Thanksgiving holiday!
My Special Sweet Potato/Pecan Bake
2 quarts cooked, mashed sweet potatoes (not canned)
3 tablespoons bourbon (follow your conscience with the remainder of the bottle)
1 stick butter (use the real thing)
2 cups pecan halves
salt and pepper
½ cup packed brown sugar
Before you prepare the dish, first roast the pecans:
In a shallow baking pan spread pecans in one layer and bake at 325° about ten minutes. Toss hot pecans with two tablespoons butter and sprinkle with salt. Set aside.
Mix hot mashed sweet potatoes with six tablespoons of butter, the bourbon, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Place in a three-quart baking dish and cover with toasted pecans. Sprinkle with brown sugar. Bake at 325° for approximately 30-45 minutes or until top is brown.

“MOVE WITH MISSY”
The coldest weather of the season has moved in, and heating systems are being turned on in all parts of the country. Even if your furnace is in fine working order, it should be serviced annually, as recommended by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Without this yearly cleaning and inspection, a system can pump deadly carbon monoxide into your home, wear itself out quickly or simply stop working.
Although some maintenance items like cleaning and replacing filters can be done by homeowners, it’s best to hire a qualified technician to do a thorough inspection to check the safety and efficiency of the unit and make any necessary adjustments or repairs. If you haven’t yet had your furnace inspected this year, take a few minutes to set up an appointment for a cleaning and tune-up.
You may also want to consider purchasing a home protection plan that provides repair and replacement coverage for your home’s most important systems and appliances. These plans, like the Weichert Home Protection Plan, allow homeowners to avoid the hassle of searching the Internet for a reliable service contractor when breakdowns occur by offering a network of trusted, pre-screened service providers. The plan is offered through all Weichert sales associates and provides homeowners with savings, convenience and peace of mind.

Valuable Information for Buyers & Sellers
Moving to a new home is very exciting, but for many people the process of packing up a home is no fun. It’s time consuming and eye-opening when you realize just how much stuff you have. Should you keep it, donate it or throw it away? If a move is on your horizon, you might find these tips helpful in keeping yourself organized, using time efficiently and ensuring your items arrive safely in your new home.
In addition to packing and labeling your boxes by room, you’ll want to create an “open first” box with all the things you’ll need right away. For example, you might include dish soap, a sponge, a roll of paper towels, tissues, pens, scissors, disposable plates/forks, bath towels, an extra box cutter, etc.
You should also pack a suitcase for each family member with all toiletry and clothing items he or she will need for the first several days in the new house while you are unpacking. Make sure to set these aside so you can pack them in the car or take them on the plane for a long distance move.
To keep yourself organized, keep a “moving file” with important paperwork you will need throughout your move, such as your moving truck reservation, real estate agent contact information, etc. Keep this file in a safe place where you will not accidentally pack it in a box.
